What Arc is
Arc is an interval and HIIT workout timer with a describe-your-workout field, a ring that shows every interval, Lock Screen and widget controls, and optional hands-free clap control. It works fully offline. There are no user accounts, no sign-up and no ads. There is no server and no cloud copy of your data.
Data stored only on your device
Everything below is stored locally (MMKV) and is never uploaded:
- your saved workouts, folders and favourites;
- workout history, streaks and bests;
- the text you type or paste into the describe-your-workout field, and any photo you snap of a whiteboard (processed on the device, never stored as an image, never uploaded);
- settings (theme, sounds, voice cues, clap control, language);
- purchase status (Premium).
Deleting the app deletes all of it.
Camera and microphone
- Camera (Premium "Snap"): used only while you take a picture of a workout board or screenshot. Text is read on the device (Apple Vision / ML Kit). The image is not saved and never leaves the phone.
- Microphone (optional "clap control"): when you turn it on, Arc listens for clap sounds to pause or skip. Audio is analysed in memory on the device; nothing is recorded, stored or sent. Off by default.
On-device model
On supported devices, Premium can ask the phone's built-in language model (Apple Intelligence / Gemini Nano) to read a messy workout description. This runs entirely on the device; the text is not sent to us or to any server.
No ads and no tracking
Arc shows no ads and includes no advertising SDK. We do not track you across apps or websites, so there is no App Tracking Transparency prompt. On Android the advertising-ID permission is explicitly blocked.
Analytics
To learn which features are used and to fix problems, Arc uses Mixpanel. Analytics runs only when a project token is configured (production builds).
What is collected:
- general, aggregate usage events (for example: workout started, workout completed, paywall viewed, setting changed) with coarse, non-identifying properties (mode, number of rounds, source of a workout);
- platform, app version, language, and Premium status (yes/no);
- a random, anonymous install identifier (not the advertising ID, not the IDFA).
What is never collected or sent: your name, email, phone, location, the text of your workouts, photos, audio, contacts, or any identifying information. Data is not sold and there is no cross-app tracking. Analytics data is transmitted over HTTPS.
Purchases
Premium is a one-time purchase (no subscription) made through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Payment details never reach us; we only learn whether the purchase succeeded. Restore is available at no charge.
Deletion
All your data is on your device; deleting the app deletes it completely. To ask us to delete analytics events tied to your anonymous install identifier, email arc@benbasha.com from the device (include the app version) and we will action it.
Children
Arc is a general-audience fitness utility and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
Health data
Arc stores your workout timeline and completions as ordinary app data on your device only. It does not connect to Apple Health / HealthKit or Google Fit and does not read or write health records.
Store privacy label
